We can achieve a world without plastic pollution but we need to build a bigger, more powerful grassroots movement to do it.

How can you help? Just register for the upcoming Beyond Plastics Grassroots Advocacy Training to learn practical and powerful ways to end plastic pollution and engage your larger community.

Join us for a free, two-hour online training designed to give you the knowledge and tools needed to take meaningful local action on plastic pollution. Whether you're just getting started or looking to deepen your advocacy, this session will provide both context and practical steps for making lasting change — beginning right in your own community.

From community action to local policy change: Learn about the “commons” as a grounding concept as you begin your civic learning. From there, explore how communities translate civic understanding into advocacy—organizing to pass local laws and policies that inform, inspire, and drive meaningful change at the local level, often shaping county and state policy over time.

We will cover:

  • From the commons to civic action and policy change: Learn how the “commons” provides a grounding framework for understanding shared resources and community well-being, and how civic knowledge of local government systems, combined with organized advocacy, can influence and lead to the creation, passage, and improvement of local laws and policies.

  • Lived experience, science, and the policy process at work: Explore how lived experience, science, and the law come together to inform real-world advocacy that protects communities and shapes policy for broader change.

  • Discover how to join the Beyond Plastics Network: A community for ongoing learning and connection with others from all across the country doing the same work. Build relationships, share ideas, and get support when you need it to take action in your community.

  • We’ll close with a Q&A session and provide you with a campaign guide with helpful links and resources you can use as a reference when bringing what you’ve learned back to your community.

Join Our Local Groups & Affiliates Network

After the training, we hope you will join the growing grassroots movement to end plastic pollution by starting your own Beyond Plastics Local Group, or, if you are already part of a like-minded organization that would like to organize around plastic pollution, by adding your existing organization as an Affiliate. We’ll support you in running local campaigns to reduce wasteful and polluting plastics in your own community as well as in coordination with Beyond Plastics activists all across the country.

If you’re curious about what the difference is between a group and an affiliate, how they’re structured, how to either start or join one, or anything else, please click here to read our frequently asked questions or email Suzette Munley, national community engagement director at suzettemunley@bennington.edu.
