Suzette Munley, National Community Engagement Director (she / her)

Suzette is a restaurateur turned plastic pollution advocate who brings a business-savvy approach to community organizing and public engagement. She has successfully led efforts to pass single-use plastic bag legislation in Pennsylvania and is passionate about mobilizing communities and raising awareness about the harmful impacts of plastic pollution on ocean and human health, the environment, and frontline communities.

Before joining Beyond Plastics, she spent over 25 years owning and operating multiple restaurants in Philadelphia. Her leadership extends to civic and educational organizations, having served as Board President for the Center City Business Association and Board Vice-Chairof the Montessori School.

Suzette currently serves on the Board of PennFuture as Treasurer and Finance Chair, advancing the organization’s mission to protect clean air and water while promoting a transition to a clean energy economy in Pennsylvania. She leads Sierra Club’s Southeast PA Plastic and Waste Reduction Group and sits on the Executive Committees of the Conservation Group and the Southeast PA Single-Use Plastic Coalition.
