Prevent Microplastic Pollution with the Fighting Fibers Act of 2025
Scientists estimate that millions of tons of microfibers enter the ocean every year—making textiles the largest known source of marine microplastic pollution.
The Fighting Fibers Act of 2025 introduced by Senator Jeff Merkley (D-OR) and Rep. Mike Levin (D-CA) in late July of 2025 focuses on one of the most significant sources of this pollution: our laundry. The Act would require all new washing machines to include microfiber filtration and would also commission research on the impact of microfibers in our water.
Fill out the form below to urge your members of Congress to co-sponsor the Fighting Fibers Act of 2025 to help prevent more microplastics contamination of our ocean, water, soil, and bodies. If you have any difficulty viewing or submitting the form below, please click here to send your letter.
