Deb Weltsch

LOCATION: NEW YORK

Deb Weltsch

Deb is a retired Reference Librarian with just under forty years’ experience in a large regional public library. Shortly after retiring—and during the pandemic—she took Judith Enck’s Beyond Plastics Master Class through Bennington College and was inspired to join the Speakers’ Bureau to alert others to the health and environmental dangers of plastics, and point them to collective ways we can make changes to protect ourselves and our planet.

Deb has a deep love and respect for the natural world. She has served several terms as an Environmental Commissioner for the Town of Rosendale, and is currently Vice President of the Board for the John Burroughs Natural History Society. She is also on the Board of the local Farmers Market.

Most importantly Deb is also a mother—and soon-to-be grandmother—who wants to apply her skills to help ensure a sustainable, healthy future. Her work with Beyond Plastics stems from there, as does her commitment to its mission to “end plastic pollution everywhere.”
