Christina Cilento

Christina Cilento is a dedicated environmental advocate with experience working on climate change, clean energy, natural resource management, environmental justice, and waste-related issues. Christina currently works at a clean energy consultancy, Strategen Consulting, at which she conducts research and community engagement projects that accelerate the transition away from fossil fuels. Previously, Christina worked at the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions, a think tank focusing on national climate policy. In 2021, she was awarded a Fellowship with the Clean Energy Leadership Institute, where she completed a capstone project exploring the linkages between the petrochemical and fossil fuel industries.

Although Christina always had an interest in climate and environmental issues, her concern about plastic pollution grew when she began working in Laos after being awarded a Fellowship with the Henry Luce Foundation in 2017. In her three years living in Laos and traveling across Southeast Asia, she saw firsthand the impact that a rising culture of disposability had on communities and the environment and became dedicated to addressing the plastic problem, both in her own life and through educating others.

Since that time, she’s taken Judith Enck’s course and multiple trainings through Beyond Plastics and is thrilled to be a volunteer speaker with the organization. Christina currently lives in Washington, DC, and is originally from Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania. She’s a lover of languages, cats, and all things outdoors.
